After what has been a very exciting, sometimes scary, insanely crazy, and at times very stressful year, I am happy to say that, yes, I am a photographer. With a business. And business cards. And a logo. And a dream that has turned into reality...which in turn has created the necessity for a photoblog. Welcome!

I feel more like "me" now than I did a year ago, and I chalk that up to pursuing interests that I'm passionate about and working towards a goal that has made me unbelievably happy. While I haven't had a "formal" education as a photographer or designer (something that is still on my long list of goals to achieve), I've done my research and used every opportunity I've been given to learn. To make mistakes. And then to learn again. I'm at a place in my life where I feel the experiences I've had have not only left me with important skills, but left me inspired. And ready to try something on my own. So here I am.
| this is me....never without my camera! |
I chose my name, renéeallison photography and design, because I want to encompass the idea that what I do is not simply "take photos". There is an element of design to the process, a crucial point that, I feel, separates a photographer's photo from the rest. I believe that this blog might in fact be the perfect way to share my vision and process, while including a personal aspect to my photo-taking as well.
My approach is simple: our experiences together should be at all times fun. And the finished product should reflect who you are as a couple, family, or person. I find the best photos are those that are caught in between the "posing". There is a story to each photo session, as most of my clients know. I can't wait to meet new people and make new friends as we share this time together!

The purpose of this blog isn't just to give prospective clients, family and friends a place to view my work but also to include the smaller aspect of my business, which involves my own creative process and includes a variety of media. I run a small store on Etsy, which you can find linked on the bottom of this page. When I'm not editing photos or teaching, I spend my time creating a variety of items, mostly centered around paper crafting and collage, which I then post on Etsy for sale. There are an enormous amount of talented designers on Etsy and if you aren't familiar with the site, I suggest you take an hour (or two) and dive in. Trust me, you'll be hooked. Finally, I wanted a place to share some of the many ideas and projects I've had clients ask me about in the past and create a place to connect with others in a more meaningful way.
So please pass my blog along, visit often and enjoy the photos (or whatever else sparks my mind as interesting) as I navigate my way through this small but very, very important adventure in my life.
Thank you.
Thank you.
