Happy Halloween Weekend!!

Oh, how I love Halloween! The perfect ending to one of my favorite months.
Tyler and I always spend the last day of October at my parents house, passing out candy and watching our favorite Halloween movies.

Such a wonderful tradition, its the best way to wind down from what always seems to be a crazy busy month.
Crazy including the annual Halloween party we throw for our small group of family and friends.
This years theme was pumpkins
Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cider, pumpkin decorations and even a pumpkin carving contest! Brilliant!!!
I think this year might possibly have been the best.
Plenty of food, desserts and drinks.
 creative costumes.
Wonderful supportive family and friends who helped endlessly.
And who didn't mind hanging lanterns or arriving an hour early to chop veggies
Oh so blessed.
And as exhausted as I was the next day, I can't wait to do it all again next year!!!

Hope your Halloween weekend was full of trick-or-treating fun!!!!

an autumn engagement session: Chris & Emily

Chris and Emily are an amazing couple. Their love for each other is obvious in their smiles and the easy way they interacted with each other while I tried to snap photos without intruding too much.
And their Harley love. So cool.
I had a great time capturing their relationship as we strolled around Silver Creek in Norton. The weather couldn't have been better, nor could the trees have been any more colorful! Throw in that awesome orange bike and well....it was almost too easy!
In just two hours I managed to get about a million awesome shots...these are just a few of my favorites. So hard to choose, but like I said....it was a lot of fun!
I can't wait to see them on the big day!
Thanks guys for an awesome afternoon!

thrifting adventures....

The past two weeks have been very productive in the thrifting department.
(And in other departments as well, YAY for photo shoots and the engagement of good friends!)
I was really lucky to find this awesome, amazing, absolutely perfect to the point where it matched my jacket....chair at the end of a church driveway last Friday with a good friend. Such a good friend in fact that she helped me hoist it into the bed of my truck so I could give it a new home!

The globe and mirror were other great finds that had been on my list for a while. The mirror is awaiting its new home in our next house (I have big plans for it) and the Replogle globe is flitting from table to table as I see fit (and as I carry it around pointing out to the husband all the places we're going to visit, *someday*

And I LOVE the orange plates and FireKing coffee mugs, both will be perfect for our fall party in a few weeks. Although I didn't find the fondue pot I was in search of for said party, I was pretty happy with these!
And you can't beat a few vintage books. Wonderful.

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~George Eliot

Fall weekends are perfect for......

Photo sessions!!! I can't tell you how many photo sessions I've scheduled this month.  Amazing! The weather has been gorgeous for most of them (only a few have needed to be rescheduled due to rain, thank goodness). This month has blessed us with gorgeous skies and warm breezes...perfect for spontaneous fun! I've had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people this month and I can't wait to share photos!

The following shoot was from last weekend, with my dear friend Ashlee and her family. We had a great time getting Mr. Lucas to laugh and giggle....these are only a few of the many photos we ended up with, but definitely some of my favorites!

Looking forward to a few more shoots before this crazy beautiful month ends! I love October so much! Thanks to everyone who has scheduled with me these past few weeks!

little date

The husband and I had a lovely weekend. It was simply. just. wonderful.
As per usual, our weekend was jam packed with events: art classes, photo shoots, baby showers, parties and the Browns game. Among other various things.
I always have to mentally gear myself up for these busy weekends so I'm not completely exhausted Monday morning. Its all fun, always, but sometimes I feel like the husband and I are passing ships in the same sea, ya know?!
Our Saturday night plans fell through at the last minute and while I was sad to miss an evening out with my favorite ladies, I realized something. We had an ENTIRE evening all to ourselves. With NO PLANS.
Goodness. What's a girl to do?
I'll tell you.
We decided to have a little date (named as such because there isn't a lot of pressure to spend a lot of money on dinner, movies, etc. And there is room for creativity!)
In one evening we managed to:
stop at a nearby pumpkin patch, only to find that there were just twelve sad little pumpkins left.
sad little pumpkins that cost way more than they were worth.
lock our keys in the car at said pumpkin patch.
joke with the sheriff about his skills at breaking into cars.
drive to another pumpkin patch twenty minutes away.
get pulled over for expired tags and receive a ridiculously high ticket for said offense.
pick out two AWESOME pumpkins right from the pumpkin patch itself, with crazy stems just like I like...as well as a Cinderella pumpkin and three super cute mini pumpkins!
drink hot chocolate and eat homemade donuts.
have dinner at an amazing local restaurant, The Barn.
talk about our future, big plans and trips to far off places
end the evening at home with a good movie
-------
While it may not have been perfect, it was most definitely the best evening out with my husband in a long time. I love love love these fall days and all that they bring.
And I am so in love with him.
And not just because he was as excited as I was about our pumpkins!
Hope your weekend was just as wonderful too!

Fashion Friday: Scarves (Part One)

Chilly weather is upon us...though I suppose if you live near me, than you are currently trying to make sense of this seventy degree nonsense in the middle of October. But hey, we'll take it right?
Nevertheless, scarves are my MOST FAVORITE part of my most favorite season. Fall. Autumn. Bonfires. Hot cider. Leaves. Just the thought makes me want to bundle up with a cozy sweater and *scarf* and go for a walk!

I actually have quite a few scarves of all different styles that I use to accessorize my outfits with, but a good handful of them are strictly for "Fall Only". Mostly because of the colors and material. But also because that makes them a bit more fun to get out and wear when this time of year rolls around!
A few of my favorite styles of late are below. Super easy to find and accessorize with, some are even DIY if you know how to knit or sew! (And come on, who doesn't have those skills these days? )

Some of my favorite thrift store finds!

My first favorite of the moment is the square scarf, tied bandana style around the neck. These scarves can be a dime a dozen at the thrift store, which is where I've found most of mine. Always the perfect addition to an outfit during a season that is sometimes still not chilly enough for a full blown wool scarf.
Another current favorite are scarves similar to the grey polka dotted and yellow hued ones below. I have a TON of these and wear them often. Sometimes its nice to have a bit of color with an outfit that may or may not be on the unoriginal side.
Stay tuned for a second post on scarves and an easy DIY!

A little Marimekko for your home....

If you're a fan of "mod" design, I'm sure you've run across this pattern before....the red flowers? Made popular in the sixties by Maija Isola, these red poppies have become quite an image in the design world.
Maija Lourkari's "Siirtolapuutarha" design (Finnish for "community garden") allows you to travel through city scene, vegetables and fruits and town houses galore. All in her attempts to recognize "urban gardening". These designs have been transformed into what can be a very eclectic dinnerware set, pillows, housewares, handbags and even wallpaper (my favorite). I think they work best as the dining set featured above. I love the hand drawn art combined with the brilliance of the red poppies.
Best of all, if you become a fan on Facebook, you'll receive 10% off your next order!
Visit AlwaysMod to view more of the collection and at their Facebook page for your discount and to become a fan!
