My dogs will always each and every time start hysterically barking right when my favorite song starts playing on my ipod.
every. single. time.
There will forever be staple holes in all of my favorite thrift store finds because their policy involves many staples and card stock tags. Sooo stupid.
Lunch dates with my little seester are the best medicine. circle. underline. star. highlight.
It's sad saying goodbye to a friend who lives too far away. There is never enough time to catch up on everything.
Leftover chinese would be in the top five things I missed if I was stranded on a desert island. No lie.
Spider bites itch worse than chicken pox. Maybe.
Some people will never change. And then there are others who will constantly surprise you with their generosity, selflessness and kindness. I'm lucky to count in my life, so very many people in that second group.
Yep. Those are mint colored shoes. And I just bought a can of mint colored spray paint. Oh where oh where do I start?!?! Mwahahaha!
I love wear*it wednesdays! Seriously. When I thought up the idea, I presented it to my friend Rachel and new blogger/old school friend Kristin. Both were in for trying it out and I thought, what the hey, it'll be fun! I love playing dress up and at the time I hated all of the clothes in my closet.
(well, still do, but that's the way it goes right?)
So we came up with enough ideas to last us four months.
And all of a sudden, I realized I had no more ideas left on the list.
So I talked to Rachel and wham bam, she had like thirty two thousand great ideas and fun wear*it wednesday games and all sorts of ways to make it awesomespice (do people really say that?)
She is totally good at this wear*it wednesday stuff.
And is quite the fashionista (as I am not).
And when you visit her blog Distinct Style its all sorts of clothing fashion coolness over there.
Over here I like to blog about ice cream and overload you with photos of my random daily life.
Not so stylish in my opinion.
From now on wear*it wednesdays will be taking place at Rachel's blog Distinct Style. It's fun over there. And very stylish. I'm still playing along, I just won't be coming up with anymore lame-o ideas.
This week's wear*it is denim shorts. If you rocked your denim shorts today, head on over to Distinct Style and play along too!
I forgot to do a "lovely week" post last week....I'm not sure how. It was definitely a good week in a lot of ways! So I thought instead, I'd just do a little post of photos from the last week or so.
Because we alllllll know I love taking photos. :)
(if you're on instagram my user name is ohreneedesign. lets be friends)
From top right: thrifted finds, kitteh, celebratory new car drink, doggie walk, summer drinks, new car, me, post surgery dinner, salon, time to waste, garage sale globes, feathered, afternoon game with the sister, runwayNOTOshow, little sister bon voyage, walk through town in love, lilypulitzer animals, doris and rock in the fort, doggie love, patterened, anthro, art show with the little campers, fortune, bowsandpolkadots, blimp, fenced in, leaves and feet, saturday night girl date.
I had a really really nice weekend, how about you?
I spent some time in the fort Friday night relaxing and watching Carrie Bradshaw try to figure out if Aiden is really the man for her. ::heartbreak::, saturday morning coffee date, Chinese for lunch with the husband, church/ice cream/mexican date with the sister, graduation and birthday picnic sunday afternoon with friends, a looooooong walk with the doggies and lots of milkshakes.
Pretty good weekend in my book:)
It has been quite a long month for the husband and I. Mostly for husband, what with his hospital visits and knee surgery and feeling under the weather and medicine and on and on....mostly a long month for me because I've tried to do my best to take care of him and make him feel better and not worry and smile, even when maybe he was a bit on the cranky side.
Which was totally understandable.
And I got to thinking, now that he was finally feeling better, we needed a date.
So the other day I made us a fort.
Fort Awesome to be exact.
(which, I might add, is exactly what he said when he walked in the living room. I know him so well.)
Anyhoooo, I broke out the twinkle lights from Christmas, the extra sheets from the linen closet and all of our favorite pillows. And some games. Annnnnd some crayons.
And we had ourselves a little date in the living room.
It was magical.
We ate dinner in the fort. And played Scrabble. And watched two movies. TWO! I don't know how we made it through both, except that the two we picked were awesome. Twister, hello?!!? My favorite.
A night in the fort wouldn't be complete without dessert so I made super yummy sprinkle brownies and then we tried to make room for all of the animals in our life. They were feeling left out of the fun I think.
In fact, Fort Awesome is still currently taking residence in the living room. Last night we finished Mad Men season four in it.
And I finished up the last of the cheesecake from lunch with my sister.
It was all sorts of delightful.
And yes, there are no chairs to sit on at the kitchen table. But who needs a kitchen table when you can sit in the fort?!!
Exactly. You don't.
:) Happy Friday friends!!!! :)
And one big super happy hello to all of my new friends who found me at A Lost Feather yesterday!!!! I'm so excited to meet all of you!!!!
Like I mentioned last week, the lovely Lauren Ward had invited me to her Fashion is a Choice runway show for her boutique NOTO this past Saturday night.
It was fun.
There were so many fabulous ladies in attendance and I got a chance to chat with some of my favorite local 330 bloggers as well!
The styles and outfit combinations that represent NOTO were fabulous....so many fresh looks for summer as well as a great many vintage pieces from Sarah's Laundry. I think these were my favorite, as we all know I love a good vintage find to remix into my wardrobe.
And boy oh boy did the beehive hairdos made me swoon.
