Last Friday we had a little baby party at our house with just our parents and my sister, to find out if Baby was a girl or boy. I was soooo nervous/excited/anxious all day waiting, since we had just had our big twenty week appointment the day before and I knew the doctor was able to see exactly, with out a doubt. I also knew that everything was going to change once we found out...no longer would it just be "Baby". It would be a little person with a gender, with specific clothing needs, with a whole little life ahead of him or her. Suddenly all of this was quite real! So by the time it came to cut that tiny cake with the question mark on top, I was kind of freaking out a little. I'm ridiculous, I know. Everyone kept laughing at me as I tried stalling, trying to figure out the best part of the cake to cut, etc. but then we did it and that blue icing couldn't be missed!
And it was the best feeling ever.
Baby boy!!! Oh my! It was quite an emotional moment too, thinking of all those little boy things that were spinning through my head as Tyler jumped up and down with excitement. Oh goodness, is he ready to play with this little guy already! Tyler and I spent the rest of the evening talking about our baby boy, all the things we can teach him and play with him and oh how wonderful it will be to have a big brother for the rest of the kiddos we may be blessed with in the future. Couldn't be happier.
I'm so glad we had the chance to share this special moment with our parents...it was really nice to have them there to be excited with! And my mom, who just knows me oh so well, brought a little pink package and blue package for me to open, depending on our baby. Tiny shoes!!! My favorite!

ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog a few weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it. You are an awesome person. This post is adorable. I don't understand how you did the cake reveal and did not know yourself from your appointment what the gender was? It sounds like it was a surprise to you when you cut the cake, so who got the news first and made the cake- or am I reading this wrong? I'd love to know the logistics because I'd love to do this someday ;)
